Governing Board

The Governing Board holds ultimate responsibility and accountability for the school. It exercises these duties by deciding key strategic policies and priorities, and by scrutinising, challenging and holding to account the work of the Headteacher, Menahel and senior leadership of the school.

Following statutory reconstitution in September 2015, the Governing Board comprises 12 governors. Of these, 7 are Foundation governors, who are appointed by the Trustees of the school. They are joined by the Headteacher (ex officio), two parent governors, one staff governor and one local authority governor. In addition, from time to time the Governing Board co-opts non-voting Associates who possess particular skills or knowledge of value. There is currently one co-opted Associate: the Menahel, Rabbi E Klyne, who brings detailed knowledge of the school’s Kodesh curriculum and attainment.

The Chair of Governors is Rabbi Benjy Gordon.

The Governing Board has established committees as follows:

  • Curriculum & Education
  • Finance and Premises
  • Staffing & Pay
  • Headteacher Performance Management
  • Admissions

The committees meet usually once each term, prior to full meetings of the Governing Board.

In addition, individual governors are assigned link roles for areas including health & safety and safeguarding, on which they report back to the Governing Board

During the Coronavirus pandemic period, as many meetings and as much business of the governing board as possible are conducted in virtual form, e.g. using video and/or audio conferencing, or via email or in other digital forms. The Clerk ensures that relevant information, reports and documents are circulated as necessary and that all significant discussions, decisions and action points are recorded and are ratified where necessary by formally constituted physical or virtual meetings.

All Governors can be contacted via the school office or using the contact form below.
